A lot of my neighbors are still unaware of the upcoming Farmers Market launch. Will there be flyers/ads up soon?

me again..sorry! saw this article on the increased use of Farmers' Markets in Portland during these economic hard times and found it interesting: http://www.portlandtribune.com/news/story.php?story_id=124466994574899200

Cathy,

the group i was thinking of for a demo is the Arctos School of Herbal and Botanical Studies (http://arctosschool.org/) - they do some really neat classes, workshops, hiking tours, etc. the person i "know" at the school (a friend of a friend) is Missy Rohs and her contact email is: missy@arctosschool.org - plus there is contact info on their website.

i kept starting an email to them and then would realize i wasn't sure what to say/ask. i am finally passing the info on to you! i'm sure if they don't think it's a good fit for them, they would have good recommendations!

thanks!

Worm bin demo! Yes! Sustainability coach, yes! Great ideas. I will also ask for recipes from my co-workers and see if we can print them at my work for giving away somewhere.

what about a demo on building your own worm bin?

Thanks for all the suggestions - I have a freind who is a sustainability coach, I'll call her right now. And I think a cheese demo would be great - can that be done in 30 minutes? If you would email me these suggestions, I would love it cjhume@comcast.net We are doing demo's other than food based. Tre bone will do one - Weir's Cyclery will do one, there is a water irrigation person coming, chickens and so forth. We want them to be interesting to bring people in.....anyone know someone who is a great composter and can do a demo on that? You are all wonderful Thanks so Much

I can ask at work if anyone is interested (Western Culinary Institute). A lot of people I work with live in the area. How long are we looking for again?

Thanks.

Also, Cathy, I sent you an email about the community booth...I have finally been given email addresses for the farm to school program. If I know there is still a spot, I will write them...unless you would like to.

I really need to make it to a meeting and help with these ideas. I hope to come to the next one, unless I am in labor.
That said, what do you think about a cheese demo. I think Julie from Red Tree Farms could do one on making your own goat cheese. I'll think about other ideas. Are you keeping the demos food based?
Also, we can do a demo on food dehydrating. I'll get back to Amy on when we can do the canning demo.

i have an email into a friend who knows a woman who lives in North Portland who gives tours and classes on plants and herbs - i can't remember her name or the name of her group, but as soon as i find out i'll let you know! i've also tried through the county, but i'm not making any real connections. we do bring in people to give programs on things like sustainability (for instance TransitionPDX just came in: http://www.thedirt.org/tpdx) but i think they might be paid, and not sure what kind of budget we have, if any - but maybe they would do something for free? let me know if you want me to contact them.
